From midnight phone calls and birthday wishes to cakes and the birthday bumps, everything remains fresh in my mind.
Staying awake until 12 to see who wishes first, waiting for a phone call from near and dear ones and expecting a gift on a birthday makes college life memorable.
I remember saving up the pocket money months before birthday just to treat friends with all our favourite food in our favourite restaurant.
I now realise, the little pocket money that we got from our parents have created so many memories and happiness which our salary now cannot do.
Short and sweet! Lovely post. Read mine too here http://saba-relishingrascal-scribbles.com/2018/04/01/best-5-beautiful-destinations-for-honeymoon-in-india/

DeleteMy father used to give me 22 Rs pocket money when I was a kid. Those days 22 Rs used to mean a lot. It used to be enough for an entire month. And I used to save out of this 22 Rs for other things like buying presents. Today times have changed and 22 Rs cannot buy you one square meal. Good article. Brought memories flooding back.

DeleteBirthdays are all about fond memories for me. I'm trying to create some for my son now. Short and crisp - well written.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sonia. There are so many memories even with the smallest of the small things that made us smile. Sure your son will have many memories too.
DeleteVery crisp and neat post. I remember in my 10th receiving 25rs. as travel expenses to go to classes by bus. Never heard of anything called pocket money till i reached college. Then too we walked to save that amount. Very nice post.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sudha. Even I remember walking just to save money for later use.

DeleteGrowing up years are most cherished memories. Although that's also a time when we want to grow up fast only to go back to those good old memories.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteSmall things that gave so many valuable memories. So relate to all of this.

When I joined my Post Grad college, for the first time I heard something called birthday bumps. In my home town there was no such thing. But in Post Grad college, boys used to take it as a golden chance to take revenge and give solid birthday bumps to the birthday buddy. Love your series.
